Brian McGinley Obituary, Cause of Death – Sudden Passing at 62
The Mount Laurel, New Jersey community is mourning the sudden loss of Brian J. McGinley, who passed away unexpectedly on July 22, 2026, at the age of 62. His passing has left family, friends, and loved ones grieving the loss of a man remembered for his warmth, generosity, and larger-than-life personality.
Brian was born in Yardley, Pennsylvania, to the late William and Barbara McGinley, before his family settled in Brant Beach on Long Beach Island, NJ. It was there that his lifelong love for the Jersey Shore began. At just 17 years old, Brian became the owner and operator of the Big Dipper ice cream parlor in Surf City, all while earning his bachelor’s degree from Stockton State College (now Stockton University). He later built a successful career in the insurance industry with Wm. McGinley Co. in Haddonfield, NJ.
He found great joy spending summers in Avalon with his wife and daughter. Whether grilling at home or enjoying a steak and Manhattan at his favorite restaurant, The Pub, Brian cherished life’s simple pleasures. He loved basketball—playing in his youth, coaching his daughter’s team, and cheering for the Philadelphia 76ers. He also enjoyed golfing, landscaping his meticulous garden, and keeping his family’s cars spotless, reflecting his pride and attention to detail.
Brian’s devotion extended to his beloved dogs, whom he walked daily, a testament to the mutual love they shared. He was known for his impeccable style, confidence, and strength, but above all, for his countless acts of kindness, quick wit, and sharp sense of humor. An entertainer at heart, he delighted family and friends with his spot-on vocal impersonations and unforgettable deep voice. His positive outlook and zest for living touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Gail McGinley (née Obee); devoted daughter, Meghan McGinley; loving siblings, Bill McGinley (Deb) and Peggy O’Neill (Michael); and brother-in-law, Jeff Baldwin. He was predeceased by his brother, Kevin P. McGinley, and sister, Mary Susan Baldwin. Brian also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 11:30 AM, with an opportunity for relatives and friends to share memories. A luncheon will immediately follow at Ramblewood Country Club, 200 Country Club Pkwy., Mount Laurel, NJ.
