Route 66 Motorcycle Crash Update: Motorcyclist Suffers Significant Burns in Marlborough
A serious motorcycle crash and fire on Route 66 in Marlborough, Connecticut left a motorcyclist with severe burn injuries overnight, according to the Marlborough Volunteer Fire Department.
Firefighters were called to the intersection of North Main Street and South Main Street around 12:15 a.m. after reports of a motorcycle accident involving fire.
When first responders arrived, they found two people on fire. Firefighters and bystanders quickly worked together to extinguish the flames, bringing the immediate danger under control.
Motorcyclist Suffers Significant Burns
Investigators said the motorcycle driver sustained serious burns to the lower extremities. The injured motorcyclist was transported by ambulance before being transferred to LifeStar for specialized treatment at a regional burn center.
The passenger was also evaluated for burn injuries and taken by ambulance to a local hospital. The extent of the passenger’s injuries has not yet been disclosed.
